be licenced has met with stiff opposition from home owners who believe the
move infringes on their basic proprietary rights. While the amendments to
the Valuers, Appraisers and Estate Agents Act, initiated by the Ministry of
Finance's Board of Valuers, Appraisers and Estate Agents (BVAEA), was mooted
to improve professionalism and quality of the practice, owners feel the outcome

has adopted Singapore's demanding construction assessment system called Conquas
21 to measure the standard for its Bandar Botanic township in southern Klang,
Selangor. Created by the island republic's Building Construction Authority
(BCA), Gamuda Land managing director Chow Chee Wah said the system "is a constructive
platform that ensures good practices among developers and contractors to get
it right the first time".
