LUMPUR, Wed. - The Cabinet has directed all local authorities to issue certificates of fitness (CFs) to housing developers within
14 days provided all technical conditions are met, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Dr Ting Chew Peh said today. He
said the directive followed a thorough study by the ministry and the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management

after receiving their keys from the developers".

MALAYSIA is losing a colossal amount of
fertile top soil every year. Soil
scientists say more than 18.5 million
hectares or 57 per cent of our land is
being severely eroded and we are losing
it at the rate of about 150 tonnes per
hectare per year. The main culprit is
                                        large-scale development, especially in
the highlands where roads, resorts and
                                        houses are being constructed.
