      In the interest of house-buyers
16/07/2006 MB THE recent announcement that the government will adopt,
in principle, the build-then-sell concept as an option to the existing
sell-then-build concept is welcomed by homebuyers. The introduction of
10:90 will see house-buyers making a 10% payment upfront, with the balance
90% being settled upon the completion of the house. The idea is to provide
security to homebuyers by reducing their losses should a project be
abandoned. Although the system proposed appears good at first look, there
are two issues that need to be examined: attracting the interest of
homebuyers and reducing the number of abandoned projects.
