SITIAWAN, Khamis - Mulai esok semua pemaju perumahan boleh mendapatkan
Sijil Layak Menduduki (CF) dalam masa kira-kira dua minggu berikutan
penggubalan Undang-Undang Kecil Bangunan Seragam 1984. Menteri Perumahan
dan Kerajaan Tempatan, Datuk Dr Ting Chew Peh, berkata pemaju perumahan
boleh mendapatkan CF lebih cepat berikutan pihak berkuasa tempatan perlu
meluluskan permohonan dalam masa dua minggu dari tarikh permohonan
diterima.

AS FROM this year, housing developers should be able to get certificate of
fitness (CF) for their projects within two weeks following amendments to
the Uniform Building Bylaw 1984, said Housing and Local Government
Minister Datuk Dr Ting Chew Peh. For speedier CF issuance they will have
to submit complete E Form and meet the criteria required by the local
authorities, he said in Sitiawan yesterday

KUALA LUMPUR, Rabu - Kabinet hari ini mengarahkan Kementerian Perumahan
dan Kerajaan Tempatan menganjurkan pertandingan membina rumah di lereng
bukit bagi membuktikan pelaksanaan projek itu di kawasan berkenaan boleh
dilakukan tanpa menjejaskan alam sekitar. Penekanan utama pertandingan itu
ialah dari segi pelan susun atur projek, mengelakkan pemotongan bukit dan
penebangan pokok serta tidak merosakkan keadaan topografi di kawasan
pembinaan.

KUANTAN, Wed. - A group of 19 buyers of a high-end condominium project in
Sungai Karang today filed a petition in the High Court to wind up the
developer in their bid to revive and complete the project. The project,
called Sunny Beach Resort, was supposed to be completed in 1995. It was
abandoned in 1996 after only 90 per cent completed.

Kerumitan yang bakal dihadapi oleh sukar dijangka dan kebiasaannya boleh
menyebabkan pertelingkahan sehingga perlu dibawa ke mahkamah. Ini kerana
segala urusan jual-beli adalah tertakluk kepada pelbagai undang-undang.
Antaranya adalah undang-undang yang sudah lama wujud dan undang-undang
yang baru digubal mahupun yang dipinda untuk menyesuaikannya dengan masa
dan zaman. Kegagalan kita mengetahui kesan-kesan peruntukan yang tertentu
dalam undang-undang itulah yang menyebabkan kesusahan, kerumitan dan
kerugian. Persoalannya ialah sejauhmana selaku pembeli kita membaca dengan
teliti dan faham dengan sempurna setiap perjanjian yang ditandatangani.
Bagi orang biasa perjanjian yang disediakan dilihat sebagai agak kompleks
dan berputar belit bahasanya. Walaupun boleh dikatakan menjadi satu

KUALA LUMPUR, Sun. - A group of 12 squatters in Ampang Jaya today claimed
to have been cheated by a landowner after agreeing to vacate their homes
in 1997 for a low-cost housing project. They alleged the landowner failed
to compensate each squatter family with RM6,500 and also reimburse them
for 18 months' house rental, after they had shifted out from the 7ha site.

GOPENG, Sun. - The Housing and Local Government Ministry is looking into
the possibility of introducing the "Build and Sell" concept where housing
developers will have to complete projects before selling units to the
public. Its minister Datuk Dr Ting Chew Peh said this was to protect house
buyers against the possibility of housing projects being abandoned.

the Housing and Local Government Ministry to carry out a study on the
possibility of introducing the build-and-sell concept for houses. Menteri
Besar Datuk Abu Hassan Omar said the State Government welcomed the concept
as it would protect house buyers from the possibility of housing projects
being abandoned.

SHAH ALAM, Thurs. - The reduction of up to 90 per cent in quit rent for
properties in Selangor will only cover units with strata titles, Menteri
Besar Datuk Abu Hassan Omar clarified today. He said only unit owners with
newly-issued strata titles will enjoy the reduction while those whose
titles were issued earlier would have to get them endorsed by the land
office before they can enjoy a similar reduction.

THE Housing and Local Government Ministry received a total of 1,135
complaints from property buyers last year, an increase of 54 per cent from
the 737 it received in 1997. Among others, its minister Datuk Dr Ting Chew
Peh attributed the rise to the frequent inspections made by the ministry's
Enforcement Division to get feedback from the buyers.
