SHAH ALAM: The chief security officer of an apartment here was killed and a
guard injured when they tried to stop a group of intruders from entering the
premises of Perdana Apartments at Section 13 here.
The incident occurred around midnight yesterday when S. Subramaniam, 43, and
his colleague were attacked by a group of men armed with parangs who had
arrived in a van and two motorcycles.
It is believed the men were called in after a fight broke out between two
groups of college students staying at the apartment.
Subramaniam, who was from the Kuala Lumpur office of a security firm, was at
the apartment to make a check. When he saw the group of men, he tried to
stop them from entering but was slashed on the head.
Commenting on the incident, ACP Abdul Wahab Embong said that police arrested
seven men allegedly involved in the assault within three hours. Three were
former detainees of Simpang Renggam and wanted for criminal offences.
He said the college students were earlier involved in a fight involving
jealousy over a girl.
