PETALING JAYA: Armed forces personnel in the Klang Valley can look forward
to better housing thanks to nine projects by the Defence Ministry.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said high rental rates in
the Klang Valley had forced armed forces personnel to take up cheap
accommodation that did not give them the quality of life that they deserved.
He said it also did not augur well for forces if the personnel were forced
to rent squatter units as they could not afford proper housing.
Najib, who is also Defence Minister, said the projects to provide 6,963
units of apartments, terrace houses and bungalows in the Klang Valley were
initiated under the Eighth Malaysia Plan and would continue under the Ninth
plan.
Najib, who was speaking at the launch of the newly completed housing units
at the Subang TUDM Base, said the projects would provide housing for
personnel at the Kementah, Wardieburn, Sungai Besi, Jalan U-Thant, Pasifik
and Subang TUDM Base camps. |
