   SYARIKAT Perumahan Negara (SPN) yesterday expressed its willingness to take over the construction of 10,000 units of teachers' quarters which are facing delays if asked to do so by the Government. SPN chairman Datuk Zahid Hamidi said the company has the capacity and expertise to carry out the task based on its current performance and its future and current projects.

   PENANG: Shoplot buyers of the stalled Bayan World Megamall are upset that work on the RM75mil project has yet to resume after nearly four years.A spokesman for the purchasers, Ang Thean Hock, said the five-storey megamall project was only 60% completed although the Penang Develop-ment Corporation (PDC), which holds 30% stake in the company, had set a new deadline for its completion in December this year.

   KUALA LUMPUR: Plaza Rakyat bersebelahan Hentian Puduraya yang sepatutnya siap tiga tahun lalu tidak akan dibiarkan menjadi projek terbengkalai yang mencacatkan pemandangan ibu kota.    SOME buyers of abandoned housing projects have no interest in reviving them. This was what the government discovered after conducting in-depth studies into such projects. Of the 156 abandoned projects that were looked at, about 20 per cent of such projects in Peninsular Malaysia fell into this category. Most of the buyers who declined to have the projects revived had only paid the 10 per cent deposit. This is in contrast to those buyers who have paid up to 80 per cent of the purchase price. These buyers undoubtedly were keen on having the projects in question revived. The study also revealed that only 52 abandoned projects were still viable.

    BANGI, Sun. - The RM60 million abandoned hostel project in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, which was previously awarded to UKM Alumni Organisation and Pandan Mulia Development Sdn Bhd, will resume construction once a new developer is identified. UKM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Anuwar Ali said the university's administration was negotiating with Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad on reviving the project and the undertaking would then be open for tendering.

    SEREMBAN, Thurs. - The uncompleted low-budget hotel facing the King George Five school, abandoned almost four years ago, has become a mosquito breeding ground besides being an eyesore. Pools of stagnant rainwater have collected at the site and some of the structures have given way, posing a danger to passers-by.

    KUALA LUMPUR, Isnin - Persatuan Pembeli Hartanah Sentul Raya Kuala Lumpur (PPHSR), meragui kebakaran bangunan terbengkalai, Villa Perhentian di Jalan Perhentian, Sentul dekat sini dilakukan oleh penagih dadah dan meminta ia disiasat. Presidennya, Moideen Kutty berkata, agak sukar mempercayai penagih dadah terbabit dalam kebakaran itu kerana bangunan yang terbengkalai sejak tujuh tahun lalu, berpagar dan dijaga rapi oleh pegawai keselamatan.

18. Housebuyers file suit against new developer 22/02/2002 NST
    MALACCA, Thurs. - Five housebuyers from Taman Bukit Tembakau in Umbai have filed a suit in the High Court against housing developer Jejaka Megah Sdn Bhd and government-owned Tabung Pemulihan Perumahan Terbengkalai Sdn Bhd (TPPT). A. Chelvadurai, K. Arajunan, Mahfar Alwee, Redzuan Mohd Said and Hamidah Md Noor, who is the widow of Ibrahim Amat, the original houseowner, filed the writ through the firm of Mogan Karupiah and Co.

    SUBANG: Kira-kira 50 pembeli rumah teres Delima dan apartmen Orkid di Seksyen 2, Bandar Pinggiran Subang, di sini, merungut kerana terpaksa membayar ansuran pinjaman bank walaupun kediaman yang dibeli terbengkalai. Projek perumahan yang mula dibina pada tahun 1997 dijangka siap pada tahun lalu tetapi masih terbengkalai.

22. Malton unit to revive RM350m project in Malacca 21/03/2002 BT
    MALTON Bhd's subsidiary, Domain Resources Sdn Bhd, has been given the task to revive the RM350 million Malaysia China Light Industrial City (MCLIC) project in Malacca. Domain Resources has been appointed as the project manager for the 162.8-ha MCLIC, said Malton executive director Philip Ho during a media tour at the project site in Malacca yesterday.

    SEMENYIH: "Saya tidak merasa wang pencen sejak bersara pada 1995 kerana semua habis untuk bayaran ansuran rumah terbengkalai," kata Mohd Zin Abdullah, 62.     AFTER a seven-year wait, 102 house buyers of Taman Dalma at Km2 Jalan Bangi, Semenyih, Selangor will get their houses by September under a rescue scheme by Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad. Beranang State Assemblyman Ahmad Kuris Mohd Nor said under the RM2 million aid scheme by the national housing company (SPNB) of the Housing and Local Government Ministry, the project will be revived this month.

    About 1,400 purchasers of the stalled Taman Cemerlang housing scheme are still waiting for a white knight to rescue the project in Bandar Baru Air Itam.  Housebuyers committee chairman Chang Yeong Shen said most buyers were from the low income group and could not afford to come up with additional money to take over the project themselves.

Projek ini dimiliki Kumpulan Prasarana Rakyat Johor Sdn Bhd iaitu syarikat Kerajaan Negeri Johor. Taman perumahan ini sepatutnya siap pertengahan 2001, seperti yang tertera pada papan tanda projek.

    KUMPULAN YTL menjangka pembangunan hartanah bakal muncul sebagai penyumbang utama pendapatannya dengan pelaksanaan projek pembangunan semula perbandaran Sentul di Kuala Lumpur. YTL Land & Development Bhd (YTL Land), iaitu syarikat hartanah Kumpulan YTL semalam membentangkan rancangannya untuk menghidupkan semula projek pembangunan perbandaran itu yang sudah terbengkalai sejak krisis kewangan Asia pada 1997,1998.

    SEREMBAN: Kementerian Perumahan dan Kerajaan Tempatan melalui Bahagian Pengawasan dan Penguatkuasa mengenal pasti 70 projek perumahan terbengkalai di seluruh negara untuk dipulihkan Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB).     SEREMBAN: Some 26,000 houses, with an estimated value of RM3.23bil and left incomplete more than five years ago, are expected to be ready by next year. Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad assistant general manager (project rehabilitation) Mohd Amin Mohd Salleh said the company was targeting to complete the abandoned projects by next year.

    ANYONE driving from the PLUS toll exit to Seremban town would immediately notice the abandoned construction of an office tower, adjacent to the bus and taxi terminal. I have nicknamed it the "Tower of Eyesore". It has been in that sorry state since the Asian financial crisis in 1997-98 and that was almost four to five years ago. Couldn't the State Government or the local town council take over the abandoned project? Why leave the building in a mess?

40. Rhythm Avenue folk want probe into wrongdoings by builder 13/05/2002 MM
    RESIDENTS of Rhythm Avenue in Jalan USJ 19, Subang Jaya, will submit a letter to the Board of Architects tomorrow asking them to investigate allegations of wrongdoings among board members. A similar letter will also be sent to the Bar Council, said Consumers Association of Subang and Shah Alam (CASSA) president Jacob George.

    PENANG: The state government has engaged turnkey contractors to revive and complete 12 abandoned low and low medium-cost housing projects in various phases of development.  The 12 projects are Taman Sri Semarak, Taman Cemerlang, Taman Terubong Indah (Majestic Heights) and Fettes Villa in the northeast district; Taman Sri Bayu in southwest district; Pangsapuri Widuri, Taman Sejahtera, PAKR Kuala Muda Phase 2 and PAKR Ekor Kucing Phase 2 in north Seberang Prai; and Taman Pekatra, Taman Widuri and PAKR Sungai Dua in south Seberang Prai.

Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (Adun) Seri Kembangan, Datuk Liew Yuen Keong, berkata projek berkenaan terpaksa ditangguhkan berikutan syarikat induk pemaju, Hiap Aik Construction Bhd menghadapi masalah kewangan, menyebabkan projek itu terpaksa diambil alih oleh Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Bhd (Danaharta) iaitu agensi kerajaan yang bertanggungjawab mengurus aset bermasalah.

    SERDANG: Seramai 1,369 pembeli unit kedai pangsapuri dan apartment kos sederhana di Seksyen 5, Serdang Perdana berharap projek yang terbengkalai sejak November lalu, di kawasan itu dapat diteruskan semula. Ia berikutan kebanyakan pembeli sudah membuat pembayaran tetapi masih tidak boleh menduduki unit kedai itu.

    AFTER waiting for 12 years, 250 house buyers of Taman Lingkaran Nur, Phase 1, in Batu 12, Cheras, Hulu Langat are hopeful again that they will finally get their homes. The project, which was abandoned in 1993, has been revived in a rescue scheme being carried out by Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB).

Pengarah Eksekutifnya, Mohd Razeek Hussain, berkata anak syarikatnya, Lembah Beringin Sdn Bhd, pemaju projek itu akan menyambung semula kerja membina 1,000 unit rumah projek itu.
