MALACCA, Nov 24: Several buyers of development projects on Pulau Melaka would be meeting developer Pulau Berkembar Sdn Bhd
(previously known as Inno Enhance Sdn Bhd) on Thursday over the delay in completion.
Some would be requesting compensation, as they had already paid 50 to 60 per cent of their loan.
A buyer, David Lim, 42, a businessman from Johor, said he bought an office lot on the third floor at a cost RM96,600 and a
ground-floor shophouse at a cost of RM590,000 on Sept 1996.
"I have paid 60 per cent of the amount for the office premise and another 50 per cent for the shophouse. The developer was
supposed to complete the project within 48 months of the agreement was signed December 1996. It is now six years, he said.
Pulau Berkembar is a subsidiary of public-listed Talam Corporation Bhd.
The Pulau Melaka project, which includes two 40 and 50-hectare sites reclaimed from the sea, was expected to cost RM2 billion.
Lim said he and several other buyers were not confident that the project would ever be completed.
