AFTER waiting for 12 years, 250 house buyers of Taman Lingkaran Nur,
Phase
1, in Batu 12, Cheras, Hulu Langat are hopeful again that they will
finally get their homes.
The project, which was abandoned in 1993, has been revived in a
rescue
scheme being carried out by Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB).
The national housing company of the Housing and Local Government
Ministry is putting in RM2 million to complete the project.
Speaking at a signing ceremony between the house buyers and the
company
in Taman Mesra, Cheras recently, SPNB assistant general manager
(project
rehabilitation) Mohd Amin Mohd Salleh said the project was expected
to be
completed by July next year.
He said housing developer Saktimuna Sdn Bhd had abandoned the
project in
1993.
"The project involves 253 houses comprising 151 low-cost
double-storey
units and 154 medium-cost single-storey units.
"The State Government will consider saving Phase 2 of the project
later
on," he said.
Mohd Amin said last year, the State Government's project manager
Lingkaran Nur Sdn Bhd had come in to complete the project.
"The company, however, surrendered the project in April due to
financial
problems.
"It is now 80 per cent complete. We will issue tenders to
contractors
registered with the Finance Ministry soon," he said.
Lingkaran Nur house buyers' protem committee president Md Noh Md
Amin
said the buyers were relieved that work on the project would resume
soon.
Md Noh said the buyers had lost about RM35,000 in rental and other
expenses incurred in claiming their houses.
"We will also file suits against Saktimuna once the project is
completed," he added.
Also present were State Local Authority, Squatters, Housing and
Environment Committee chairman Datuk Mokhtar Ahmad Dahlan and SPNB
chief
executive officer Datuk Mohd Nor Bador.
