Taman Perindustrian Subang Mewah) found out in 1997 that the project had been
abandoned, they felt as if darkness had descended upon them. Following a meeting
between the buyers' pro-tem committee, the local council and representatives
of the project's current managers, many of them now see light at the end of
the tunnel.

ARTHUR Anderson and Co, which has been appointed the receiver and manager
of the abandoned Korakyat Industrial Park project (known previously as Subang
Mewah Industrial Park), has given an assurance to the 478 buyers of the factory

manager Aaron Loh, who said this yesterday, added that it was the intention
of the company to revive the project and to complete it on time.

THE Government is studying the possibility of making it compulsory for housing
developers to build social facilities such as community centres and parks
instead of just allocating the space for them in their projects. Housing and
Local Government Minister Datuk Dr Ting Chew Peh said yesterday at present
under the law they were only required to set aside land for the building of
schools, clinics and other social facilities while the local authorities erected
these facilities.

PENANG, Tues. - The State Government is exploring ways to revive 21 low- cost
housing schemes, undertaken by the private sector, that have been abandoned

THE Housing and Local Government Ministry has taken action against 163 developers
for false advertisements in contravention of the Housing Developers Act 1966,
Minister Datuk Dr Ting Chew Peh said. He said 78 developers had been prosecuted
and another 85 were given warnings. Under the Housing Developers Regulation
(Licensing) 1989, licensed housing developers must get approval from the Ministry
before advertising their projects. Last year, 653 licences and 622 permits
were approved. He said this in a written reply to a question by Rosli Mat
Hassan.

IN an unprecedented move, buyers of Le Chateau Condiminiums Phase Two in Lorong
Syed Putra Kiri have applied for a Temporary Certificate of Fitness (TCF)
from City Hall themselves. The buyers, represented by the Le Chateau pro tem
committee, submitted their application to a City Hall representative yesterday.
This is the first time buyers have applied for the TCF. It is usually done
by the developers.
