KUALA LANGAT, Thurs. - The Government is reviewing the law in order to rein
in developers and control the housing industry following a surge in complaints
from consumers. Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Dr Ting Chew Peh
today said a committee was set up yesterday to review the Housing Developers
Act 1966.

reviving 88 per cent of abandoned projects nationwide, involving 57,650 units

sederhana rendah atau kos rendah tidak begitu menggalakkan sejak dulu lagi.
Rintihan pembeli yang berasa tertipu, terpedaya atau dikecewakan oleh pemaju
kerap kedengaran. Awal tahun ini Kementerian Perumahan dan Kerajaan Tempatan
mengumumkan ia menerima 1,135 aduan daripada pembeli rumah di seluruh negara
tahun lalu, meningkat 54 peratus berbanding tahun sebelumnya. Aduan itu membabitkan
rasa tidak puas hati pembeli terhadap mutu, kelewatan penyerahan, kelewatan
sijil layak menduduki (CF) dan pemaju atau kontraktor melanggar pelbagai perjanjian
jual-beli. Sebagai timbal-balas kepada pengumuman mengenai aduan berkenaan,
empat badan penggerak program perumahan negara mengadakan perbincangan meja
bulat ketiga Mac lalu. Mereka merumuskan piagam `Ikhtiar Industri Pembinaan'
sebagai ikrar untuk meningkatkan mutu pembinaan serta profesionalisme masing-masing
berikutan banyak aduan diterima berkaitan kualiti rumah sejak kebelakangan

SITIAWAN, Sat. - Housing developers with a bad track record will be suspended
between four and six years, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Dr
Ting Chew Peh said today. Speaking to reporters after opening the Kampung
Koh market near here, he said the Ministry would not approve applications
if directors of such suspended firms tried to set up another housing company.

itu, pemaju meminta wang pendaftaran atau tempahan sebanyak RM1,000 kononnya
sebagai pengesahan membeli rumah itu. Pemaju kemudiannya meminta lagi wang
sebanyak 10 peratus daripada harga rumah itu. Bagaimanapun, selepas setahun

THE Federal Government should tighten existing laws on housing development
to make developers fully accountable for their projects, Penang Chief Minister
Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said yesterday. Under the present regulations, state

today for failing to restore its silt traps at the Bukit Sungai Kayu Putih

low-cost houses to help developers sell them. Menteri Besar Tan Sri Mohamad
