Sistem
perumahan sempurna untuk semua
28/11/1991 BH
SEBANYAK 602,700 unit rumah diperlukan dalam
tempoh Rancangan Malaysia Keenam (RM6)
dan kira-kira 60 peratus daripadanya
atau 343,800 unit akan dibina mengikut
program perumahan kos rendah. Program
Khas Perumahan Kos Rendah (PKPKR) juga
akan diteruskan bagi memenuhi sasaran
mengikut perancangan asal. Dalam tempoh
berkenaan, kerajaan turut memperuntukkan

keseluruhan peruntukan berjumlah $1.78
bilion bagi pelbagai program pembangunan
sosial dalam RM6 untuk projek perumahan
awam berbanding $1.46 bilion dalam
Rancangan Malaysia Kelima (RML). Semua
ini membayangkan keperluan perumahan
yang semakin mendesak di kalangan rakyat.
PKPKR diperkenalkan pada 1986 dengan
matlamat menyediakan 240,000 unit rumah
kos rendah dalam tempoh RML seiring
dengan matlamat jangka panjang kerajaan
untuk memastikan setiap golongan
berpendapatan rendah mempunyai rumah
yang sempurna. Walaupun sebanyak 352,495
unit membabitkan 1,056 projek sudah
didaftarkan dalam program berkenaan,
hanya 49.2 peratus atau 173,303 dapat
dibina. Di samping itu, 179,192 unit
lagi sedang dalam perancangan, 129,236
masih dalam pembinaan dan 44,067 lagi
selesai dibina hingga Ogos tahun lalu.
Peruntukan sebanyak $390.72 juta
disediakan dalam program berkenaan
tetapi hanya kira-kira 60 peratus yang
sudah digunakan sehingga akhir tahun
lalu.
