                                          SEVERAL financial institutions have 
                                          forced purchasers of sub-divided 
                                          buildings to take up a fire insurance 
                                          policy before providing them with 
                                          financing even though the units are 
                                          covered under a master insurance 
                                          policy. These institutions are said to 
                                          have adopted a "take-it-or-leave-it" 
                                          attitude because they want the units 
                                          to be insured under their panel of 
                                          insurers.

                                        EFFORTS are being 
      made to speed up the process of transferring strata titles to residents of 
      Section 2 in Bandar Baru Wangsa Maju. Deputy National Unity and Social 
      Development Minister Datuk Alex Lee, who in also the MP for Batu, will 
      hold a meeting with Datuk Bandar Tan Sri Elyas Omar to help speed up the 
                                        process.

										kalangan yang sudah "terperangkap" dengan pemaju perumahan yang tidak bertanggungjawab - wang pendahuluan dan bulanan pinjaman 
										perumahan dipotong setiap bulan tetapi projek perumahan terbengkalai. Setidak-tidaknya dengan peraturan baru itu, bakal pembeli 
										rumah sudah tidak bimbang wang yang disimpan sekian lama untuk memiliki rumah impian masing-masing tidak "lesap" kerana kegagalan 
										pemaju menyiapkan projek perumahan yang dijanjikan.

										be selling low-cost houses to the public at under-the-counter prices and without City Hall's approval. Datuk Bandar Tan Sri Elyas 
										Omar said he suspects several developers are going against the Development Order by selling low-cost units directly to buyers 
										instead of going through City Hall.

    flats of Taman Mirhaja in Jalan Loke Yew were built according to 
    specifications approved by the Housing and Local Government Ministry, said 
    MBf Property Services. The company, which is managing the project, made the 
    statement in response to claims by buyers that the flats were substandard.

										for house-buyers under the new EPF Act has met with mixed response from consumerists and developers. While the Federation of 
										Consumers' Associations, Malaysia (Fomca) is jubilant over the move, the Housing Developers' Association, Malaysia (HDA) has 
										expressed concern over its implementation.

                                        KUALA LUMPUR, Mon. - The Employees 
                                        Provident Fund will continue to release 
                                        in one lump sum withdrawals by 
                                        contributors who want to buy houses 
                                        provided all necessary documents have 
                                        been furnished. "As far as the EPF is 
                                        concerned, no decision has been made to 
                                        change the present regulations as 
                                        reported by some newspapers last week," 
                                        public relations manager Tengku Roshani 
                                        Tengku Embong said today.

										property (STP) need not take up fire insurance on the unit as required by several financial institutions, Sime Zeta Hogg Robinson 
										Insurance Brokers (SZHR)'s managing director Lo Teen Ann told Business Times. He said under the Strata Titles Act 1985 (the Act), 
										the management corporation or the original proprietor is required to insure and keep insured the subdivided building against fire 
										and such other risks as may be prescribed under the Act.

                                        have applied for a government loan to 
                                        complete the construction of the 
                                        building which has been abandoned for 
                                        more than four years. The application, 
                                        under the $500 million Entrepreneurs 
                                        Rehabilitation Fund, was made by Safuan 
                                        Holding Sdn Bhd. The fund was set up in 
                                        July 1988 to help Bumiputras who faced 
                                        financial difficulties caused by the
