    SEREMBAN, Wed. - Some 31 "instant millionaires" who paid cash to purchase their houses in Taman Lukut Jaya in Port Dickson have expressed dissatisfaction as until today the developer, a Malacca-based company, has yet to hand over the title deeds to the properties. Although one of the directors of Astana Strategi (M) Sdn Bhd, Datuk Wong Akau, had said on July 8 that the company had managed to secure a few title deeds and that it was in the process of obtaining another three, the buyers claimed that none of them had received any.

    TWO years ago, Talam Group caused a stir in the property market when it launched Bandar Seri Bukit Jalil (which was subsequently renamed Puncak Jalil). Like many other buyers, I was attracted by the attractively priced link house and bought a unit. The model township and promotional brochure showed the area will be served by a good link road with an interchange connecting to the Bukit Jalil-Puchong highway and link all the way to another interchange connecting the Kesas Highway.

This shows that cutting red tape is just a matter of identifying the blockages in the administrative process which cause the delays and which may be dispensed with without compromising standards of quality and efficiency.

    I REFER to the comments on open spaces (NST, Aug 22). It is incorrect to say that house buyers own the open spaces in their housing estates as the open spaces are considered State land being surrendered by the applicant/developer upon the approval of the project. The keys to the house were only handed to my wife on Jan 4, 2001, which resulted in a delay of 266 days.
