Call to review method of strata
title issue

THE mechanism of issuing strata titles must be reviewed to allow for
faster issuance and processing of this document. Without this, it
would be difficult to enforce a comprehensive management strategies
that are allowed under the Strata Titles Act 1985. Mr Gurjit Singh,
the secretary-general of Institution of Surveyors Malaysia said the
slow process of issuing strata titles means that a management
corporation cannot be formed.
HDA against foreign speculative practise

Government's move to curb foreign speculative practices on local property

protected. The association had all along been addressing this issue and

Malaysia, said Encik Mohd Radzif Mohd Yunus, chief executive officer of
Shapadu Properties. A survey by Rahim & Co showed that 12 per cent of
condominiums in Malaysia are owned by foreigners while they also accounted
for about 60 per cent of the occupancy rate, he said in a paper on
"Financing the Condominium" delivered at the last day of a two-day
conference on condominium development in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Completion period for houses may be extended to 24
months

KUALA LUMPUR, Thurs. - The Government may extend the period for the
completion of houses from the present 18 months to up to 24 months to ensure
the keys and certificates of fitness (CFs) are distributed to buyers
simultaneously. Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Osu Haji Sukam
said the actual period of extension would be decided at a meeting between
the Ministry and the Housing Developers Association (HDA) next week.

Investment Committee's (FIC) strict enforcement of the 1974

projects shortly because of the uncertainty in the market arising from the
narrow interpretation and strict enforcement of the 1974 Foreign Investment

TAIPING, Sun. - About 60 owners of the Taman Bersatu housing flats
in Kampung Boyan have yet to get their Certificates of Fitness (CFs)
despite having signed their sales and purchase agreement eight years
ago. Their spokesman Saw Lee Tong said today the project was earlier
abandoned and put into receivership under Majaya Enterprise Sdn Bhd.

Buyers in bid to revive housing project

Raya in Cheras has formed a seven-man committee in an attempt to
get the developer to revive the project. Work at the project, a
