KUALA LUMPUR, Tues. - The new lending guidelines issued by the
Bank Negara which require banks and finance companies to provide $6
billion in low and medium -cost housing loans over the next two
years was welcome by many. Consumer Proctection Advisory council
member Lee Lam Thye said the lending guidelines were good as they
come in the light of numerous complaints about financial
institutions being very selective and, in several cases refusing to
finance the purchase of low-cost houses.
