Seri Iskandar new township project, Ipoh

    THE Seri Iskandar new township project about 40km from Ipoh, which was abandoned in the early 1980s because of recession, will be resumed in March next year, Perak Public corporations and Industries committee chairman Datuk Junus Wahid said yesterday. The project developer, Sri Ringgit, will initially build 500 low-and medium-cost houses on a 80ha site while an industrial site on another 80ha, he told reporters in Ipoh. The township, expected to take between four and five years to build, will have, among other things, schools, shophouses, offices and a sports court. Datuk Junus said all 129 factory sites at the Pangkalan industrial area had been sold, of which 89 were foundry-based and the rest furniture factories.
