New developer for abandoned project
02/07/2004 The Star By K. ANURADHA

THE abandoned Serdang Perdana Section 5 mixed development project will no longer be an eyesore to the public as another developer is taking over.

This project, which is visible from the Seremban Kuala Lumpur Expressway, has been abandoned for the past three years.

“The developer was in financial trouble, so in 2002 Danaharta appointed an administrator to run this project,” said Seri Kembangan assemblyman Datuk Liew Yuen Keong.

Last year, Liew, with the help of the Housing Ministry, brought in a new developer to revive the project.

“We then had a meeting with ministry officials, the developer and buyers of the 1,369 shop apartment units. That was in February this year,” he said.

Liew said it was agreed at the meeting that the project would be completed and handed over to buyers without any price increase and the buyers in turn could not claim late delivery charges.

“The first batch of units should be completed by July 2005 and the rest will be delivered by 2007, at the latest,” he added.

He said this was an encouraging development because firstly, it could solve the problem of a large number of buyers and secondly, this project was one of the very few that has been successfully revived.
