KUALA SELANGOR, Wed. - Effective Jan 1 all matters pertaining to strata titles
will be handled by a one-stop agency set up by the Selangor Government at
the State Land and Mines Department in Shah Alam. A special strata title unit
will be set up to handle strata title applications which involves their processing,
registering and issuance.

Two years ago, I moved into a condominium in Kuala Lumpur. I thought it was
a privilege to live in a place with facilities like 24-hour security, swimming

295 housing projects completed

A TOTAL of 295 housing projects which were abandoned over the past 15 years
have been completed and were now ready for occupation, Housing and Local Government
Minister Datuk Dr Ting Chew Peh said yesterday. He said the projects were
revived at an estimated cost of about RM2.9 billion financed either by the
Government through the Abandoned Housing Project Rehabilitation Fund or taken
over by new developers.

Sinkholes showing up again

IPOH, Thurs. - Sinkholes have started appearing again in Bukit Merah, near
here, causing fear among the 5,000 residents. Datuk Bandar Datuk Talaat Husain
has advised the residents to be careful and to keep a lookout for the sinkholes

their infrastructure contributions - a contra deal that, if accepted, will
set a worrying precedent. Such contributions are compulsory and are meant

5 Puchong Industrial Park to discuss the plight of some 200 factories which
have been without water supply since 1996. The meeting will be held on Thursday,

S'gor to consider

SELANGOR is looking into issuing the certificate of fitness (CF) to developers
despite the incompletion of infrastructure facilities, Menteri Besar Datuk
Abu Hassan Omar said yesterday. However, developers will be required to put
up assets in the form of collaterals, to the respective local authorities,
which are equivalent in value to the incompleted infrastructure, he said.

ABOUT 174 buyers of units at the Le Chateau Condominium Phase 11 project off
Lorong Syed Putra Kiri, Kuala Lumpur, want the developer to complete the units
which were abandoned in 1995. They claimed the developer, Zamrud Properties
Sdn Bhd, had done nothing to the units which were 80 per cent completed when
work stopped.
Ministry blacklists builders

THE Housing and Local Government Ministry has blacklisted developers who frequently
fail to complete housing projects satisfactorily, Minister Datuk Dr Ting Chew
Peh said yesterday. He said although the ministry is not legally obliged to
do that, it did so to ensure that house buyers did not face problems over
the unsatisfacatory condition of the house they purchase. "We have received
many complaints about this and usually we try to resolve them by getting the
two sides to negotiate," he said after launching the sale of low and medium-cost
houses at Bandar Penggiran Subang, in Shah Alam. - Bernama
Up in arms over shoddy treatment

BUYERS of Le Chateau luxury apartments in Jalan Syed Putra, who demonstrated
on Sunday to urge the developer to complete the abandoned project, are also
angry that the apartments are not being maintained by the management. Some
of the 174 buyers have already moved into Phase One for which temporary certificates
of fitness (CF) expired last year.
`No' to land title payment

TAMAN GEMILANG houseowners who were asked by the developer to pay for their
land titles have found out that deeds have already been issued by the Land
Office recently. The buyers who have resisted any form of payment as provided
for in their Sale & Purchase agreement now question the developer's motive
in asking for the payment for the scheme in Cheras.
