No more temporary CFs from the Seberang Prai council 01/02/1996 NST
PRAI, Wed. - The Seberang Prai Municipal Council has stopped issuing temporary certificates of fitness with immediate effect after it was found many developers had not fulfilled their commitments. Council president Azhar Ibrahim said the move was inevitable since many developers had failed to complete certain building work such as drain and culvert construction despite being given six months to do so.

BUTTERWORTH, Rabu - Majlis Perbandaran Seberang Prai (MPSP) memutuskan membekukan pengeluaran Sijil Menduduki (CF) sementara kerana kebanyakan pemaju gagal memenuhi syarat ditetapkan. Yang Dipertuanya Azhar Ibrahim, berkata sijil itu dikeluarkan hanya bagi membolehkan sesuatu bangunan diduduki untuk tempoh enam bulan saja sementara memberi peluang kepada pemaju memohon CF tetap.

KUALA LUMPUR, Wed. - The Cabinet, concerned with the numerous public complaints against Indah Water Konsortium, has ordered the Housing and Local Government Ministry to investigate the matter and submit a report. Its Minister, Datuk Dr Ting Chew Peh, said the report would be submitted to the Cabinet next week or the week after, at the latest. It will contain the various public complaints and ways to overcome them.

KUALA LUMPUR, Wed. - The Government today announced a new pay package for its employees which extended the monthly housing allowance to everyone and gave the biggest percentage increase to the 262,351 workers in the lowest income group. The housing allowance benefits 655,774 employees who are not enjoying it now. They include clerks, typists, non-graduate teachers and labourers who will get RM85 a month and graduate teachers and administrative officers who will receive RM95 a month.

KUALA LUMPUR, Fri. - Advertising agencies, the media and consumer associations today hailed the Government's decision to act against advertisers who make exaggerated claims by hauling them up to prove the efficacy of their products. They said the move was long overdue while a new set of specific regulations was necessary to govern the conduct of advertisers, especially advertisers of television commercials, as the existing Trade Descriptions Act was inadequate, given the emergence of new advertising gimmicks and channels.

THE Housing and Local Government Ministry will seek the views of the Health and Energy, Telecommunications and Posts Ministries on the status of cellular telecommunication transmitters in residential areas. alternative road for about 100 villagers affected by a proposed mixed development near Kampung Machang Bubok. State Assemblyman for Machang Bubuk Dr Toh Kin Woon said the developer, Fasarda Sdn Bhd, should not have closed Jalan Kebun, the only access road for the villagers including six poultry farmers when it carried out the land clearing work recently.

A HOUSING developer was fined RM6,000 by the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur yesterday for discharging toxic wastes exceeding the permitted level. Coneff Corp Sdn Bhd, represented by its general manager Tu Yin Fee, pleaded guilty to committing the offence at its waste treatment pond in Desa Tasek, Sungai Besi at 11.25am on December 26 1995. The court was told that officers from the Department of Environment (DOE) took samples of the wastes for analysis in which were found to have exceeded the level permitted by the DOE. In mitigation, defence counsel M.P.Raja said that floods had affected the pond. - Bernama
