TAIPING: Pembeli rumah di Taman Bistari, Kemunting, dekat sini yang pembinaannya terbengkalai memberikan mandat kepada Adun Kamunting, Datuk Dr Abdul Malek Mohd Hanafiah, untuk menyelesaikan masalah mereka. Mandat itu diberikan dalam satu majlis dialog pembeli terbabit dengan Dr Abdul Malek di Sekolah Kebangsaan Long Jaafar, di sini baru-baru ini. Dr Abdul Malek berkata, dalam pertemuan itu keputusan dicapai dengan pembeli terbabit memberi mandat kepada beliau untuk berunding dengan pelbagai pihak supaya pembinaan rumah itu dapat diteruskan sehingga siap.

Strata Titles Bill 1995 passed  01/11/1995 NST
MORE high-rise buildings are expected to be built in the State following the passing of the Strata Titles Bill 1995 yesterday. Social Development Minister Datuk Adenan Satem said the Strata Titles Ordinance which was enacted in 1974 had some limitations which stifled the growth of the building industry.

IPOH, Isnin - Projek perumahan Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNP) bersebelahan Taman Shatin Baru, Pasir Puteh, di sini yang terbengkalai sejak kira-kira 16 tahun lalu dipercayai menjadi tempat perlindungan pendatang tanpa izin. Seorang penduduk, Chin Kam Kee, 45, mendakwa mereka sering ternampak pekerja asing yang dipercayai pendatang tanpa izin keluar masuk ke dalam rumah yang terbengkalai itu.

City Hall to be served summons 07/11/1995 MM
BUYERS of Vista Angkasa condominium in Bukit Kerinchi will serve a summons on City Hall today for late delivery and failure to pay compensation for the delay. This was agreed at a protem committee meeting held last night at the site office of the project which involves 1,000 condominium units in five 17-storey blocks.

WHEN developers get that "sinking feeling", it means only one thing. They are in trouble because their pilings have sunk into the rugged limestone bedrock - the layer below the alluvial deposits namely, sand, gravel and clay - which geologists term as "unfavourable" for massive land development. Although limestone is not as solid as granite, it is not the strength of limestone rock which is at question. Rather, it is its irregular features which are characterised by crevices, pinnacles and overhangs that cause concern.

Strata titles: Heavier fines against errant builders likely 12/11/1995 NSUNT
KUANTAN, Sat. - The proposed amendment to the Strata Titles Act 1985, to be tabled in Parliament, will provide for a heavier fine against errant developers. Land and Co-operative Development Ministry Parliamentary Secretary Datuk Fauzi Abdul Rahman said today the Government felt the existing fine was not deterrent enough, resulting in many developers dragging their feet.

THE developer of a housing estate in Cheras may pay a heavy price for his brashness as three units of his single-storey link houses which were illegally built may have to be demolished. The units were built by the developer of Taman Seri Raya in Batu 9, Cheras without the approval of the Hulu Langat District Council.

THE Hulu Langat District Council has called on developers not to issue vacant posession (VP) and hand over keys to house buyers of units which are not supplied with water and electricity. Council secretary Abdullah Rahman said four developers in Cheras, Kajang and Semenyih have been put under the list of problematic developers for issuing VP before the completion of basic amenities.

KUALA LUMPUR, Thurs. - The Land and Co-operative Development Ministry is compiling a list of buildings, including apartments and condominiums, already issued with the certificate of fitness for occupation (CF) to ensure the individual buyers get their strata titles. Ministry secretary-general Dr Nik Mohamed Zain Nik Yusof said the work had entered its sixth month and more time was needed.
