Kurang simen punca projek lewat BH 02/09/1995
KEMAMAN, Jumaat - Kekurangan simen menyebabkan 13 projek perumahan kos rendah dan Skim Pertapakan membabitkan 3,000 keluarga di negeri ini, tidak dapat disiapkan mengikut jadual. Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Pembangunan Bandar dan Desa negeri, Ahmad Said, berkata sekurang-kurangnya 30,000 kampit simen diperlukan untuk menyiapkan projek itu yang dilaksanakan 13 kontraktor Bumiputera.

KUALA LUMPUR, Tues. - City Hall has appointed a private consultant to carry out soil tests along Pesiaran Lidcol, off Jalan Yap Kwan Seng here, to determine the cause of several cracks that appeared yesterday. The cracks, which appeared about 12.30pm yesterday, and measured about nine metres long, caused damage to an old bungalow along the road, forcing the occupants to vacate the premises.

THE Housing and Local Government Ministry was criticised today for not living up to its promise to help buyers of the Greenwood Condominium project abandoned in 1990. A group of 34 purchasers, who were left in the lurch after the project was revived by another developer, were unhappy at the lack of action against the latter for allegedly carrying on the project without a licence

State lauds move to extend house guarantee period 06/09/1995 NST
JOHOR BARU, Tues. - The Johor Government today lauded the Housing and Local Government Ministry's announcement that it would study the possibility of extending the guarantee period for new houses from the current 12 to 36 months. State Housing, Small and Medium-scale Industries, and Local Government Committee chairman Adam Abdul Hamid said the move was timely as this would give house buyers sufficient guarantee against structural faults and shoddy workmanship by developers.

SEREMBAN, Thurs. - Eight abandoned housing projects in Negri Sembilan have been approved for rehabilitation by the Treasury's Abandoned Housing Project Rehabilitation Fund (AHPRF). Menteri Besar Tan Sri Mohamad Isa Abdul Samad said today the abandoned projects consisting of 2,050 housing units were mostly in Kuala Pilah and here.

THE Strata Titles Act is being reviewed and amendments are expected to be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat sitting in October. KANGAR: Kerajaan negeri akan berusaha membantu pembeli rumah di negeri ini mengatasi masalah mereka, khususnya berkaitan bayaran balik pinjaman bank, kata Ahli Majlis Mesyuarat Kerajaan negeri (Exco), Khor Liang Tee. KUALA LUMPUR, Wed. - A housing development company was fined RM25,000 by the Sessions Court here today for building apartments without a licence. Managing director of Tempamas Sdn Bhd Chia Soon Keat pleaded guilty yesterday on behalf of Tempamas to building the Setapak Ria Apartments in Jalan Mata Air Dua, off Jalan Genting Kelang in Setapak here without a housing developer's licence on Feb 15.

Taman Rampai project to be revived 15/09/1995 MM
THE Taman Rampai housing scheme in Ampang which was abandoned eight years ago is being revived. Ampang Jaya MP Ong Tee Keat, in announcing the good news, said those who had bought houses in the scheme will not have to pay extra money under the new proposal to revive the scheme.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sun. - The problem of the issuance of strata titles is in no way related to the number of practising licensed land surveyors, Land Surveyors Board of Peninsular Malaysia secretary Chun Ming Kee said. He said the board had appointed 106 licensed land surveyors, out of a total of 153, to carry out survey work for the issuance of strata titles since 1985.

Call for developers to extend guarantee period 20/09/1995 NST
SEREMBAN, Tues. - The Negri Sembilan Consumers Council wants the Government to introduce a regulation requiring housing developers to carry out repairs on houses with faults beyond the existing one-year period. State executive councillor Goh Siow Huat, who is the council chairman, said the present one-year guarantee in the Sale and Purchase agreements was insufficient to safeguard the interest of housebuyers.

Senior manager of Maxrise (M) Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Metroplex Bhd, Cheah Siew Mun, pleaded guilty on behalf of Maxrise to building Green Park Apartments on Lot 10053 and 10060, Jalan Awan Pintal, off Jalan Kelang Lama here, without a housing developer's licence on Feb 15.

High price to pay over idle schemes 21/09/1995 NST-LTIMES
A NUMBER of housebuyers in Perlis were recently declared bankrupt by the court because the nine schemes in which they purchased their units have floundered for the last 10 years. State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Khor Liang Tee said the affected buyers, among whom were several civil servants, simply could not continue servicing their bank loans while paying for house rentals.

Studying need for extending warranty on houses 21/09/1995 NST
KUALA LUMPUR, Wed. - The Housing and Local Government Ministry is studying whether there is a need to extend the warranty period for houses in view of numerous complaints of shoddy workmanship. At present, the warranty period for houses is one year from the date the certificate of fitness is issued and during this period developers are required to repair defects that appear in the structure.

KUALA LUMPUR, Mon. - Purchasers whose houses have major structural damage can compel their developers to address the problem even after the expiry of the warranty period. Housing Developers Association of Malaysia (HDAM) deputy president Tan Teng Boon said they could do so under the 1953 Limitations Act but added this was limited to damage caused by major structural defects.

THE Housing Developers Association Malaysia (HDA) wants the one-year Defects Liability Period (DLP) to be maintained as major structural defects appearing after 12 months will be covered by the Limitation Act 1953. State must absorb low-cost price hike 27/09/1995 NST
KUALA LUMPUR, Tues. - State Governments can increase the price of low-cost houses but they have to absorb the difference from the RM25,000 price per unit fixed by the Federal Government, Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government Peter Chin said today. He said this when commenting on Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman's statement yesterday that the State Government proposed to increase the price of a unit of low-cost house from RM25,000 to RM27,000.

KUALA LUMPUR, Wed. - The Federation of Malaysian Consumer Associations (Fomca) said today that the Housing Developers Association (HDA) is threatening the Government by giving indications that house prices could rise if the one-year warranty for new houses is extended. Fomca president Hamdan Adnan said the statement by HDA president Lawrance Chan Kek Tong yesterday that the Government's intention to increase the warranty period could cause a price hike of up to 15 to 20 per cent was unbecoming as they only think of profit without taking into account the responsibility to provide quality houses for consumers.
