scheme's administration to avoid disputes over maintenance. He said: "Developers should involve the buyers from the early stage in
their scheme's administration to avoid disputes when the management is handed over to the purchasers."

Call to restore one-stop system

PENANG, Fri. - The Department of Land and Mines (DLM)
should restore its one-stop system for strata titles application. Penang was the first State to have implemented it. Director of
Land Legislation and Management Development, Cheah Gaik Lian, said Penang had put the system on hold after 18 months in operation
since July 1993.

plans to form a Strata Titles Board soon to resolve disputes arising over the management of highrise buildings. The assistant
director of land legislation and management development at the national Land and Mines Department, Leong Hoong Wah, said the board
would lessen the burden of the courts.

KANGAR, Ahad - Kerajaan negeri membelanjakan RM12 juta bagi membaik pulih
lima projek perumahan terbengkalai di negeri ini membabitkan 475 unit
rumah, kata Pengerusi Perumahan dan Kerajaan Tempatan, Khor Liang Tee.
Menurutnya, lima projek perumahan itu ialah di Taman Ria, Oran; Taman Seri
Pauh di Kurung Anai; Taman KSM di Beseri; Taman Mewah di Sena; dan Taman
Indah di Arau.

MELAKA: Kementerian Perumahan dan Kerajaan Tempatan diminta campur tangan
dalam menyelesaikan masalah pembeli rumah projek perumahan Taman Ayer
Keroh Heights I, di sini yang diminta membayar 20 peratus deposit harga
rumah berkenaan dalam tempoh 14 hari. Masalah itu timbul apabila projek
perumahan yang mengandungi 414 unit rumah kos rendah dua tingkat berkenaan
diambil alih oleh syarikat penanggung tahun lalu selepas pemaju asal
diisytiharkan muflis pada 1986.

SEREMBAN, Jumaat - Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, meminta
pembeli rumah di projek perumahan terbengkalai supaya bekerjasama dengan
pemaju baru yang mengambil alih projek itu. Menurutnya, walaupun pembeli
mungkin marah dengan pemaju asal yang gagal menyiapkan rumah mereka
mengikut jadual yang ditetapkan, tetapi mereka tidak sepatutnya marah
dengan pemaju baru.

SEREMBAN, Fri. - The Federal Government has approved an allocation of
RM26.5 million for the Negri Sembilan Government to revive nine abandoned
housing projects in the State. Menteri Besar Tan Sri Mohamad Isa Abdul
Samad said today Bank Negara's abandoned housing project rehabilitation
fund (TPPT) and enterpreneurs revolving fund (TPU) are providing RM24
million and RM2.5 million respectively.

Defence Ministry yet to

KUALA LUMPUR, Sat. - The Ministry of Defence has yet to claim nearly RM3
million in damages and compensation from several contractors and insurance
companies for abandoning building and housing projects for the armed
forces. In one case, it had paid a contractor 49 per cent of the project
cost amounting to RM1.4 million although only 12.75 per cent of the work
was completed. In another case, it twice extended the completion period of
a project although the contractor's track record was poor.

kekurangan bekalan simen, kata Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Wan Mokhtar Ahmad.
Menurutnya, kerajaan sedar bekalan simen yang sangat terhad sekarang
menyebabkan banyak kontraktor menghadapi masalah menyiapkan projek masing-
masing atau terbengkalai sama sekali.

50 projek rumah terbengkalai

JOHOR BAHRU: Lebih 50 projek perumahan di pinggir bandar raya terbengkalai
kerana pemajunya menghadapi pelbagai masalah, terutama menanggung hutang
dengan institusi kewangan. Pengerusi Persatuan Pembeli Rumah Daerah Johor
Bahru, Ng Ching Sea, berkata kebanyakan projek berkenaan dibina di sekitar
Kulai, Ulu Tiram dan Skudai.
