KUALA LUMPUR, Rabu - Tabung Projek Perumahan Terbengkalai (TPPT)
meluluskan 98 projek terbengkalai untuk dipulihkan membabitkan bantuan
kewangan sebanyak RM384.5 juta sehingga 31 Julai lalu. Dalam tempoh yang
sama, sejumlah 45 projek ditolak manakala 52 projek lagi ditarik balik
oleh kerajaan negeri atas beberapa sebab tertentu, termasuk berjaya
dipulihkan menerusi cara lain tanpa bantuan TPPT.

PENANG, Fri. - The Penang Development Corporation's (PDC's) decision to demolish
three blocks of flats in Taman Pelangi, Seberang Perai, on Aug 30 was to safeguard
the interests of house buyers as there were "shortcomings in buildings and foundation
works in some blocks of the project." PDC general-manager Datuk Mokhtar Haniff,
in a Press statement today, said an independent consultant appointed by PDC
had recommended that the existing structure be demolished and the three blocks
rebuilt at an adjacent site.

KEMENTERIAN Perumahan dan Kerajaan Tempatan menyenaraihitamkan 23 pemaju
perumahan, semuanya baru dan tidak berpengalaman kerana melakukan pelbagai
kesalahan, termasuk menipu pembeli serta menyebabkan projek terbengkalai.
Sehubungan itu, jika ada anggota lembaga pengarah syarikat itu menubuhkan
syarikat baru, syarat yang sama akan dikenakan bagi memastikan mereka
tidak mengulangi kesalahan yang sama pada masa depan.

POLICE have urged the three house-buyers who were allegedly cheated by a
company agent to help police trace him. Balakrishnan Muneyyandy and
Selvarani Gopal had claimed they were cheated of RM2,500 each while
Arumugu Kumarasamy lost RM12,500, including RM10,000 in coffee-money which
he had paid to the agent.

THE Petaling Jaya Municipal Council will call in two housing developers involved
in the controversial 20-storey condominium project on a playing field which
sparked a protest among the residents of SS14/4B Subang Jaya. Councillor Datuk
Megat Najmuddin Datuk Seri Megat Khas said the council will have a discussion
with Univer Corporation Sdn Bhd and Sime UEP Development Sdn Bhd to find an
amicable solution to the problem.

SEREMBAN, Isnin - Pinjaman sejumlah RM53.9 juta dikeluarkan melalui Tabung
Projek Perumahan Terbengkalai (TPPT) Bank Negara dan Tabung Pemulihan
Usahawan (TPU), untuk membantu memulihkan 20 projek perumahan terbengkalai
di negeri ini. Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, berkata,
setakat ini 10 projek perumahan terbengkalai membabitkan 1,963 unit rumah
kos rendah dapat dipulihkan, manakala 10 projek lain, iaitu 1,878 unit
rumah kos rendah, dalam pelbagai peringkat pembinaan.

on condominiums in JB

MENTERI Besar Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said a study to determine the
actual number of applications by developers for the construction of condominiums
around the city will be carried out by the Lands and Mines Office and Johor
Baru City Hall (JBCH). The study is also to ensure Bumiputera participation
in the projects, especially as buyers of the condominium units, he said at his
office in Johor Baru yesterday. Muhyiddin said the Lands and Mines Office has
also been asked to recommend to the local authorities measures to ensure the
safety of residents. "We do not want condominiums to be built indiscriminately
in unplanned areas," he said. Muhyiddin also said the State Government has approved
a site in Mersing district for Majlis Agama Islam Johor to develop as an oil
palm estate. - Bernama Bhd and Sime UEP Development Sdn Bhd to find an amicable
solution to the problem.

JOHOR BARU, Thurs. - A Johor Anti-Corruption Agency team today visited the site
of Taman Tampoi Utama near here where 91 just-completed houses were reported
to have cracks following soil movement. The team, led by Johor ACA director
Nordin Ismail, was initially refused entry to the housing estate, developed
by City Villa Development Sdn Bhd, by a guard but were later taken to the site
office after discussion with the company's managing director, Mr Tham Cheng
Lock.

BATU PAHAT, Khamis - Kerajaan Johor mahu berbincang dengan Kementerian
Perumahan dan Kerajaan Tempatan bagi mengatasi masalah projek perumahan
swasta terbengkalai. Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Perumahan dan Kerajaan
Tempatan negeri, Datuk Bahari Haron, berkata banyak projek perumahan
swasta yang terbiar, malah sesetengah pemajunya tidak meneruskan projek
itu.

KAMPAR, Khamis - Menteri Perumahan dan Kerajaan Tempatan, Datuk Dr Ting
Chew Peh mengarahkan pembeli rumah Taman Emas dekat sini berbincang dengan
pemaju perumahan terbabit untuk menyelesaikan masalah projek perumahan
mereka yang terbengkalai sejak 10 tahun lalu. Katanya, mereka juga mesti
berbincang dengan pihak bank yang menguruskan pinjaman perumahan berkenaan
untuk mencari jalan penyelesaian.

MALACCA, Thurs. - The State Government has directed the developer of
a multi-storey complex at Jalan Kilang to stop work following severe cracks
which appeared in 10 units of nearby shophouses. Atlantic Potential Sdn Bhd,
the developer of the 10-storey complex, which will also house the new taxi terminal,
was given the stopwork order on Sept 26.
