Majestic Heights buyers
end six-year wait

PENANG, Sat. - Purchasers in the Majestic Heights project, the country's
single largest abandoned housing project, can now look forward to
receiving the keys to their units after a six-year wait. Paya Terubong
State Assemblyman Datuk Dr Loh Hock Hun said today that the keys for the
Phase One purchasers would be given on Feb 4.

The liquidator of Majestic Heights Sdn Bhd is contemplating legal action
against purchasers who failed to pay RM7,500 each to finance the revival
of Taman Terubong Indah (Majestic Heights) Phase 1. Deloitte Kassim Chan
corporate reorganisation group executive director Chu Siew Koon said
that of the 1,557 purchasers, 760 had paid up while 389 were in the
midst of applying for loans.

PENANG, Sat. - Majestic Heights, which almost ended up as the country's
largest abandoned housing project, will soon be certified as fit for
occupation, ending a 10-month wrangle between 1,557 homeowners and unpaid
sub-contractors. Paya Terubong Assemblyman Datuk Dr Loh Hock Hun today
said the application for the certificate of fitness would be submitted to
the Penang Island Municipal Council on Monday as all necessary clearances
have been obtained.

GROUP of residents from the newly completed Phase 1 of Majestic
Heights in Penang are unhappy that they have to pay upgrading fees
totalling about RM700 for each unit to the management corporation.
Their spokesman Tan Kean Huat said: “Although we are given keys, the
electricity and water supply will not be made available to us if we
don't settle the amount.
