Rep: Stop bugging my service staff
12/04/2004 The StarPaya Terubong assemblyman Datuk Dr Loh Hock Hun
has appealed to purchasers of the completed Majestic Heights Phase I
to stop harassing his service centre staff.
Dr Loh, who had assisted in getting the abandoned project revived
and the Certificate of Fitness for occupancy issued on Dec 30, said
problems related to the units did not come under the purview of his
service centre.
“Please stop harassing and acting rudely towards my staff in
demanding for help in management related problems.
“I have fulfilled my duty in helping to revive the project until the
CF is obtained.
“Any problem related to management of the apartments should be
settled with the management corporation appointed by the
liquidator,” Dr Loh told reporters after presenting prizes to
winners of a children’s drawing and colouring contest organised by
the Residents Association of Taman Lone Pine police quarters
yesterday.
Dr Loh said he had to help purchasers of other abandoned projects in
his area and purchasers of the revived Phase 1 of Majestic Heights
should not insist on his intervention in management matters as it
was beyond his authority to do so.
“Some purchasers have refused to make certain payments to the
management corporation of Majestic Heights and are demanding for my
intervention.
“They seem to assume that Majestic Heights is my project. They
should understand that it is a private development and my duty as an
assemblyman is only to help revive it when it was abandoned,” he
said.
Majestic Heights, comprising 2,955 housing units, 55 shoplots and 22
light industrial units, is the country’s largest single abandoned
housing project.
The Housing and Local Government Minister invoked Section 11(1)(d)
of the Housing Developers’ (Control and Licensing) Act 1966 which
directed the developer to wind up the company.
In 2001, 545 buyers of Phase 1 apartments appointed liquidator
Deloitte Kassim Chan after the developer agreed to a winding-up
order filed in the High Court.
The project was finally revived in 2002 and all the purchasers were
asked to pay an additional RM7,500 each to complete Phase 1 of the
project.
On Phase 2A, 2B and 3A which are still stalled, Dr Loh said it was
up to the liquidator to initiate revival plans.
The children’s drawing and colouring contest drew 142 children
living in the police quarters. Also present were organising chairman
ASP Abu Bakar Rohani and organising secretary Kpl Mohd Hosni Md
