HOUSING and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka
Ting has commended incumbent Paya Terubong assemblyman Datuk Dr Loh
Hock Hun for painstakingly helping to settle the problems of
purchasers of the Majestic Heights (Taman Terubong Indah) Phase One
project in Penang.
He said Dr Loh had worked hard to resolve the delay over the
project’s Certificate of Fitness (CF), which was finally issued in
January after a six-year wait.
“He had worked day and night and proven himself to be truly a
wakil rakyat in helping resolve this problem” he said after
opening the project’s management office at the project site in Paya
Terubong on Sunday.
The project is the country’s first case where the minister had
invoked Section 11(1) (d) of the Housing Developer’s (Control and
Licensing) Act 1966, which directed the developer to wind-up the
company.
A total of 1,557 buyers of the project were left in the lurch
after the developer abandoned the project six years ago.
Yesterday, nearly 300 residents attended the function to show
their support and gratitude to Ong and Dr Loh.
Ong also urged the purchasers to support Dr Loh, who is the
Barisan Nasional candidate for Paya Terubong and Lim Boo Chang, the
candidate for the Bukit Gelugor parliamentary seat.
“If you elect Dr Loh and Lim, they will work as a team and help
solve problems not only at state level but also take up matters in
Parliament,” he said.
Also present were Penang MCA chairman Wong Kam Hoong, who is
Barisan’s candidate for the Bayan Baru parliamentary seat and the
project’s management committee chairman P.L. Chang.
He said both Dr Loh and Lim have proven to be hardworking
representatives who would continue to serve the people to the best
of their capabilities.
