LooiThe liquidator and
contractor of the revived Taman Terubong Indah (Majestic Heights)
Phase 1 project are looking into ways to quickly complete the
project and obtain certificate of fitness (CF).
State executive councillor Datuk Dr Loh Hock Hun said a meeting was
held last week among the liquidator Deloitte Kassim Chan, contractor
Wira Properties Management Sdn Bhd, Bayan Baru MP Wong Kam Hoong and
himself to discuss ways to finish the project.
“The project is being held up because some 30% of the 1,557
purchasers failed to pay the RM7,500 each to revive the project.
“Therefore, we need to look into ways to finish the project without
the participation of the 30%,” Dr Loh told newsmen after presenting
prizes to winners of a drawing competition at Desa Rahmat, Relau
yesterday .
During a recent purchasers’ meeting, the liquidator announced that
they were contemplating legal action against some 370 purchasers who
failed to pay up.
Describing these purchasers as selfish, Dr Loh said the liquidator
would deal with them once the OC had been obtained.
Dr Loh also said that so far, 40% of the purchasers had paid up the
extra amount needed to revive the project while 30% of purchasers
had made partial payments, adding that financing had been arranged
to help them pay the balance.
Launched in 1995, the project comprising 2,955 housing units, 55
shoplots and 22 light industrial units, is the country's largest
single abandoned housing project.
The project stalled after the developer faced financial and
management problems in 1998.
In 2001, the High Court handed down an order for the developer to be
wound up and Deloitte Kassim Chan was appointed liquidator. |
