MALAYSIA can become an attractive destination for high net worth
foreigners looking to set up their second home if the approval process for
application to reside in the country and for property purchase is made
simple and hassle-free. In order for Malaysia to join the ranks of other
international and regional favourite spots for foreign investors, the
guidelines governing foreign participation should be further liberalised.

Ministry to have own forms for ‘second home’

forms for the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme to replace the
present forms issued by the Immigration Department that are for social
visits.

THE number of Japanese
second-home buyers in Penang is likely to double over the next two years to

Shotaro, 48, said in an interview that Japanese were attracted to Penang
because of the warm weather, a stable and friendly government, competitive
property prices, and low cost of living.

Kuwait Finance supports plan

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuwait Finance House (M) Bhd expects its newly launched
Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) Hijrah-i service programme to attract strong
participation from foreigners. Managing director K. Salman Younis said the
bank had received enquiries for the programme, particularly from the Gulf
Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, Pakistan, India, South Korea and Japan.

Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai said up to November this year, 1,700
