Association to submit report to Housing Ministry

The House Buyers Association is preparing a report on cracks in 14
houses in Taman Koperasi Cuepacs in Cheras Km19.2 before submitting it to the Housing and Local Government Ministry.
Association secretary-general Chang Kin Loong said they visited the homes to gather information from the houseowners. The
cracks had appeared in the homes about 10 years ago.
He said the houseowners had contacted the association after finding that their complaints were being ignored by both the Kajang
Municipal Council (MPKJ) and the developer.
Chang was commenting on a report in Star Metro on Feb 15 where several affected owners claimed they had taken the case to the
						association.
The houseowners claimed that their doors could no longer close properly. The houses were developed by the Cuepacs Co-operative
in the late 80s to give government servants a chance to own homes.
"These people have been complaining for a long time and the cracks are now getting bigger," he said. He added that several
tests done by the contractor showed that there was soil shifting in the area.
Chang said the association would write to the MPKJ to find out the status of the Temporary Certificate of Fitness (TCF) issued
in 1990. He said the TCF expired six months after it was issued and was never renewed.
In our story on Feb 15, it was inadvertently reported that the Housing Developers Association (HAD) was taking up the case for
the houseowners when it should have been the Housebuyers Association. The error is regretted. |
