IOI Properties has assured Bayan Hill Homes residents that the slope
failure which occurred near their houses will be rectified soon.
The works started about one-and-a-half months ago and would take another
three months to complete.
“It will cost RM1.2mil. Soil nailing will be carried out to reinforce the
slope, among others,” IOI Properties general manager Lee Thian Yew said.
When the works are done, the slope would then be covered with turf.
Steep: Work has begun to strengthen the slope near the Bayan Hill Homes.
Lee was at the site for an inspection with Kinrara assemblyman Teresa Kok
and the residents last Saturday.
The residents said the slope, located behind the houses of Jalan Bayan 4,
is steep and narrow.
“Some part of the edges are giving way and covered with plastic sheets,
said Residents Association chairman Woo Fook Chin.
The residents added that soil and stones are washed down the slope and get
into their houses during a downpour.
About eight years ago, their houses also cracked when the developer
blasted the hill for development.
“We do not want another Bukit Antarabangsa or Highland Towers landslide to
happen here. We want this part of the hill stabilised,” said Woo.
Commenting on the housing project that is being carried out on the
hilltop, Lee said the houses were not affected by the slope failure.
Kok, on the other hand, said she would monitor the progress of the slope
rectification.
