RESIDENTS of Taman Daya, Kepong are facing two unresolved issues involving
land titles and an abandoned project.
They claim that some 500 land titles have not been given to them and are
also worried about the abandoned Astana Square project.
Selayang MP William Leong said the same developer was responsible for both
the issues.
“The developer was supposed to build 16 office units and 160 service
apartments at Astana Square but it has been abandoned since 2001. The
units owners have to service the bank loans even though the units are not
ready.
“Some residents have also not received the land titles after staying here
for more than two decades. The residents need to pay about RM400 each to
the Gombak Land Office to ensure they are issued their land titles.
“However, only the developer can sign for the land titles and when a
meeting was arranged several times, they refused to attend.
“The owners are worried over the matter,’’ said Leong, who had a meeting
with Taman Daya residents to discuss the issues.
In August 2007, former assemblyman Datuk Tang See Hang had a meeting with
the Gombak Land Office and asked the developer to settle land premium
totalling RM400,000 to ensure that land titles would be issued.
The developer did not pay the land premium.
Taman Daya Residents Association president Tam Voon Chong said that
residents plan to resort to legal action over the land titles issue.
“As for the Astana Square project, residents have asked the developer to
step aside and want to appoint Rimbun Capital Sdn Bhd to complete the
project,” said Tan.
