urged to pay maintenance fees to get strata titles

RESIDENTS of Dahlia Apartments and the surrounding apartments in Bandar
Baru Selayang have been urged to pay maintenance fees in order to get
their strata titles and immediately form a Joint Management Body (JMB) for
each block.
Dahlia Apartments Action Committee coordinator Asri Buang said that some
of the apartments’ occupants had not paid the maintenance fee since moving
into these apartments and RM5,000 to RM15,000 was owed in backdated
maintenance fees.
“Now the developer, Shah Alam Properties (SAP) wants residents to pay an
additional RM800 so that the strata title for these apartments could be
issued.
“In the past, a number of occupants refused to pay because the drains in
the area were not maintained and rubbish not collected on time,” said Asri,
who organised a meeting with Selayang MP William Leong and the occupants
at the Dahlia A apartments community hall in Bandar Baru Selayang on
Saturday.
It is estimated that more than 1,000 people from Seroja Apartments, Melor
Apartments, Cempaka Apartments, Teratai Apartments, Kenanga Apartments,
Dahlia A and Dahlia B Apartments in Bandar Baru Selayang have no strata
titles despite staying here for more than two decades.
“Today, occupants from the apartments signed a memorandum that will be
given to the State Housing Building Management and Squatters Committee
chairman Iskandar Abdul Samad asking for a discount in backdated
maintenance fees or to write it off,” said Asri.
