JOHOR BARU: Fugitive lawyer Md Madzhar Mohd Sapuan, 43, who was on the
police wanted list for four years, has claimed trial to three separate
counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving RM158,000 in three
different Sessions Courts.
In the first court, he was charged with wrongfully using a Bank Bumiputra
Commerce cheque worth RM80,000 at the Madzhar Mohd Sapuan & Co. office in
Metropolis Tower on Nov 30, 2000.
Judge Mohd Fauzi Mohd Nasir set bail at RM5,000 with one surety and set
Dec 2 for trial.
Md Madzhar pleaded for a lower bail saying he is currently unemployed and
has five children to support.

DPP Mazri Mohamed argued for a RM15,000 bail considering the severity of
the offence.
In the second court, Md Madzhar was charged with misappropriating a Bank
Bumiputra cheque worth RM25,000 at the same office on Dec 15, 2000.
DPP Jasmee Hameeza Jaafat urged the court to set bail at RM50,000 as the
accused was a known public figure and the case was of public interest.
Judge Jamaluddin Mat set bail at RM25,000 despite appeals by Md Madzhar.
He also set Oct 15 for mention.
In the third court, Md Madzhar was charged with swindling RM53,000 from a
client.
He was alleged to have swindled Sakiran Nor of the money which was meant
for a housing developer on Jan 8 this year.
Judge Abd Ghafar Ab Latif set bail at RM10,000 with one surety and fixed
Dec 2 for mention.
As at press time, the accused had yet to post bail.
