THE developer of a multi-million police logistics complex in Section U1,
Shah Alam, which has been halted has called on Home Minister Datuk Seri
Hishamuddin Hussein to intervene.
Eastern Access Sdn Bhd made the call after waiting for almost two years
since the project, which is 70% complete, was halted.
Eastern Access was given the termination letter by the Government in late
2007, citing technical reasons.
StarMetro had on May 18 highlighted the issue on its cover under the
heading “Project comes to a halt as funds stop coming in”.
Eastern Access chairman Datuk Syed Taha Syed Mohamed said the problem
could be resolved through the minister’s intervention.
“I am confident Hishamuddin will be able to help solve this outstanding
issue,’’ he said in an interview with StarMetro.
Syed Taha said his company had been given the termination letter for the
RM45mil project due to several technical glitches that the ministry had
identified.
He said he was prepared to rectify the glitches and hoped the minister
would seriously look into his appeal.
“My company has spent more than RM30mil so far and the project is almost
complete. The situation has cost us a lot of money.
“We cannot afford to lose so much of money and I believe the minister
understands our plight,” he said, adding that he was prepared to complete
the project as soon as the nod was given.
Syed Taha said his company had also received many complaints from the
residents in the area who were concerned about the presence of an
abandoned project in their midst.
He said he was also worried that the image of his company would be
tarnished by the situation.
“We want to clear our image and as well as complete the project soon,” he
added.
The project is located on a 1.5ha plot of land near the traffic lights
junction leading to Taman TTDI Jaya.
A view from outside shows that the project is nearing completion and the
finishing touches have already been made to several of the buildings that
face Persiaran Usahawan. These buildings have also been painted.
Construction materials has also been left lying around in the project site
which has been boarded up. However, some parts of the hoarding have
collapsed.
