NATIONAL House Buyers’ Association secretary-general Chang Kim Loong said
the RM200mil allocation for the construction of low-cost houses would
benefit buyers.
“It is good that the Government is doing something to encourage people to
buy houses,” said Chang, adding that the tax relief on interest paid on
housing loans of up to RM10,000 a year for three years was another
motivation.
Chang said to assist retrenched workers, banks had agreed to defer repayment
of their housing loans for a year.
He, however, said there were many things that were left out.
“The Government has not allocated any funds for abandoned projects,” he
said.
“Something must be done about this as it is the Government’s duty to
safeguard the buyers,” Chang added. |
