IN A bid to resolve problems and safeguard the interest of parcel owners at
Sungei Wang Plaza, the Sungei Wang Plaza Owners Association was formed
recently.
The association will act as a liaison point between individual parcel owners
and the developer.
According to association president James Tan, the strata titles notification
had just been issued in February.
“The Sg Wang is about 31 years old and back then no strata titles were
issued.
“In 2007, the Act 663 was brought in and before they issued the titles a
joint management body (JMB) had to be formed.
“When they have the strata titles, the developer must form a management
corporation (MC), where they have to transfer the rights.
“We just want our rights as owners to be protected as well as have a
representative in the MC.
Tan added that they wanted clarification over the many changes that took
place in the original building and the account of all the money received
from the common property in the building.
“We as owners have to come together as we have been in the dark all these
years,” he said.
Tan said some 300 owners gathered at the launch of the association attended
by Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun, who would lend his support to the
association.
Fong said the association was established at the right time.
“I will be going to the land office to see how many strata titles had been
issued.
“I will then check with the submitted number of strata titles with the town
and planning department.
“This is so that the number tally with each other,” he said. |
