Mayor says developers have to complete projects on time
24/03/2009 The Star

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) has received several complaints from the public over developers who did not complete their housing projects on time.

Johor Baru City Council Mayor Datuk Naim Nasir said that the developers had to keep to the timeline.

“I am disappointed with these developers as buyers are the victims when a housing project is not completed,” he said.

Naim said that the MBJB would not give out Certificate of Fitness for Occupation (CFO) to developers who did not complete their housing project.

There are 14 abandoned projects in the city, including commercial and housing projects.

He was speaking to reporters after attending a United Malayan Land Bhd (UM Land) key handing over ceremony for 40 Vanda homes at its sales office in Seri Austin.

On a separate matter, Naim said that the MBJB had successfully used Effective Microorganism (EM) to clean Sungai Segget and Lido beach.

“The water in both places used to have a pollution level of five. After six months of using EM, it is now at level two,” he said.

Naim said that it was now possible to see people fishing by the Lido beach and bangau birds could also be spotted, a sign of fish returning to the waters there.
