PJ mayor advises RAs to come up with crime-reducing solutions.
PETALING JAYA: Private security arrangements in housing estates in the city
will be allowed as an additional security measure taken by the residents.
However, PJ mayor Datuk Mohamad Roslan Sakiman said that the state
government, in a recent executive meeting, has decided that these security
measureswould only be allowed in Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya and no other
areas in Selangor.
He said the residents' associations (RAs) should not take that to mean that
the council was condoning the security measures undertaken by the RAs
themselves.
"We will not allow any more gates to be erected in housing areas where there
are none now. We will, however, allow those existing ones to stand. We would
advise the RAs to come up with crime-reducing solutions rather than
isolating themselves by erecting gates and barriers.
On another issue, cabins used as political party bases all over PJ will be
removed by the city council. "Unless the cabins are being utilised by the
public, we will remove them as soon as possible," said the mayor. |
