Federal Territories Ministry Proposes Strata Titles Board And Guidelines

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- The Federal Territories Ministry has proposed a 'Strata Board' and guidelines for it as an alternative to resolving strata title ownership claims through the courts.

Minister Datuk Seri Zulhasnan Rafique said the board would function as a "semi-judiciary body" which will hear, arbitrate and decide on claims of strata title ownership.

"The board is very important as the number of residents in the federal territories is rising every year and contribute towards increase in houses and business premises in storied buildings," Zulhasnan said in his speech at the Strata Development Seminar 2008 here today.

His speech was read by the ministry's secretary-general Datuk Ahmad Phesal Talib.

Zulhasnan also said the Federal Territories Land and Mines Director's Office had resolved 99.99 per cent of back logged-cases of registration of both commercial and non-commercial land for applications made last year and before.
