Work has been delayed yet again on the housing projects in Lestari Puchong.
KUALA LUMPUR: House buyers of three abandoned housing projects in Puchong
are still waiting for the Housing and Local Government Ministry to keep its
promise to revive the projects.
On June 14, deputy housing minister Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin visited the site
for Taman Lestari Permai, Taman Lestari Puchong, and Taman Saujana Puchong
9E and promised that work by IJM Corporation would commence in two weeks.
But work on the projects, abandoned since 2003, have not begun, a
representative of the buyers said.
P. Sri Ganes, 31, representing the house buyers of Taman Lestari Perdana,
was told by Hamzah that work had not started because the price of raw
materials went up by 30 per cent after the meeting.
"He assured me that IJM would start work soon and that we should not
pressure the company or they might abandon the projects."
He added that Hamzah had also assured him that the bank would hold off on
loan instalment repayments until the projects are completed.
Sri Ganes said representatives of buyers in all three housing projects would
meet the deputy minister again next week.
The housing projects were abandoned by the developer Talam Corporation
Berhad in 2003.
After more than three years of waiting, the house buyers had demanded that
the Housing Ministry act to solve their problem. The house buyers had also
threatened to march to Parliament and to seek legal redress against the
developer. |
