Pahang Sultan: Ensure homes are of good quality
01/05/2008 The Star By Nik Naizi Husin

RAUB: The state should ensure that the quality of houses in housing projects is in accordance with standard requirements for a better living environment.

Sultan of Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah Sultan Abu Bakar said that quality should not be compromised as this would lead to problems.

He said that houses were built for owners who hoped for better shelter.

“It is a disappointment for them to find their houses poorly built.

“It is also sad if the projects are abandoned as many wait very long to own their houses,” Sultan Ahmad Shah said in his speech when he officially launched Taman Perumahan Lechar in Kampung Tanjung Putus, Dong, here on Monday.

Also present were the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Abdullah and State Housing, Basic Amenities and Transport Committee chairman Datuk Ir Mohd Soffi Tan Sri Abdul Razak.

Sultan Ahmad Shah said, in line with the increasing prices of consumer products, it is necessary for housing projects to be checked for quality, especially low-cost houses.

He said that all housing projects must include facilities such as access roads, schools, playgrounds, mosques, suraus and shops.

“The projects should be located at ideal locations away from flood-prone areas and be easily accessible,” he said.

Sultan Ahmad Shah said all houseowners wanted their houses to be rumah ku syurga ku (my home, my paradise).
