05/05/2008 Bernama
SHAH ALAM, May 5 (Bernama) -- The High Court today fixed Aug 5 for case
management of a suit by 130 landowners in the Desa Kerayong Indah housing
project against the Selangor government for failing to complete the project.
The other defendants are the Kuala Selangor Land Office and developer Bumi
Circle Sdn Bhd.
Judicial Commissioner Datuk Mariana Yahya set the date in her chambers to
enable all parties to file all the necessary documents and witnessses'
statements.
Lawyer for the landowners, Wan Shahrizal Wan Laden, said the court also gave
Bumi Circle two weeks to file its defence.
According to landowners' statement of claim, the Selangor government
appointed Bumi Circle to build houses or shops on a 86-acre land in Kuala
Selangor in 1998.
In 2006, the Selangor government and the Kuala Selangor Land Office
appointed another developer, Probil Sonati Development Sdn Bhd, to continue
the project. On April 5 last year, Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad classified
the project as a stalled project.
Hence, they seek RM3.9 million in special damages and RM10.1 million in
general damages from the three defendants.
