says Syabas

KUALA LUMPUR: Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) has clarified
that the company had never appointed any agent or individual to conduct
water quality checks in houses.
Its corporate communication and public affairs head, Abdul Halem Mat Som, in
a statement, advised consumers to lodge police reports if they had been
approached by people, claiming to be Syabas agents, to conduct checks.
He said the company recently received complaints from consumers in Batu
Caves.
He said the company only carried out water quality checks at its sampling
stations in residential areas.
"If there are complaints, water checks will be conducted by the company's
Water Quality Department officers. They wear uniforms and identification
tags.
"We advise users to be extra cautious when approached by people claiming to
be from Syabas," he added.
The public is also advised to lodge reports with the Syabas Customer Service
Centre (Puspel) at 1-800-88-5252. They can also SMS by typing PUSPEL
(complaint) and send it to 39222 or email puspel@syabas.com.my.
"We take this matter seriously and will take legal action against those
found to be using Syabas to gain profit by cheating consumers," he said.
