KAPAR MP S. Manikavasagam has lodged a report with the Anti-Corruption
Agency naming two politicians and a businessman over an alleged land scam in
Kampung Perepat in Kapar, Selangor.
He told a press conference later that the land transactions were conducted
in a fraudulent manner and urged the ACA to investigate any abuse of power.
Some 50 farmers who had worked on the land since 1978 under the Revolusi
Hijau (Green Revolution) scheme carried placards at the ACA office demanding
that ownership of the agricultural land be returned to them.
In 1978, the state Land Commit-tee had allocated 2,500ha in Kapar for
agriculture where 974 participants were chosen for the scheme and each were
given 0.4ha to 1.2ha for cultivation.
