True picture of guarded areas in Kota Kemuning needed
03/09/2007 The Star

I REFER to the recent views in The Star – “Unlawful roadblocks” (Aug 11) and “Stop roadblock nonsense now” (Aug 27). I feel the writers did not give a true picture of guarded areas in Kota Kemuning.

I lived in USJ Subang Jaya for nearly 14 years before moving to Kota Kemuning last year. I now live in Anggerik Oncidium of Kota Kemuning, which is also a guarded area. None of the guards in Kota Kemuning would ask motorists to produce their IC.

I also have a carpool with friends to send and fetch our children to school in Subang Jaya. One of them lives in Jalan Anggerik Eria 31/109 and another in Jalan Anggerik 31/104 (also guarded). My friends and I do not face any problems entering or passing through these areas.

Since the completion of new interchange to Kesas Highway near Bukit Rimau in February, most motorists from the precincts of Jalan Anggerik Vanda, Jalan Anggerik Oncidium and Jalan Anggerik Doritis use Persiaran Anggerik Vanda as an access to Bukit Rimau, Kesas Highway or the commercial area along Persiaran Anggerik Vanilla.

Many do not use Jalan Anggerik Eria 31/109 to get to other areas, as this road is narrow and curvy. But, passing through 31/109 does not save much time and petrol.

If we were to demolish all guardhouses, could we enjoy peaceful slumber without worries? Guards and gates prove useful in keeping bad hats away, and this has indirectly reduced the heavy burden on the police force, which is short-handed now.

I LOVE KOTA KEMUNING,

Kota Kemuning, Selangor.
