JOHOR BARU: There have been no takers for the Build and Sell concept in
Johor since its launch earlier this year.
Local Government and Health Committee chairman Datuk Halimah Sadique told
the state assembly Monday that not a single developer had come forward to
submit applications under that concept from the time it was launched on
April 12.
“As of August 31, there have been no applications,” she said adding that
there were two variations to the concept.
Under the first variation, the developer only sells the house once all the
housing units are completed, including the Certificate of Completion and
Compliance (CCC). The buyer is not required to pay any deposits or payment
in phases.
Under the second, developers are allowed to collect only 10 percent of
payment, with the balance only collectable upon completion with the CCC.
She was responding to a question from Cheong Chin Liang (BN-Bukit Batu) who
asked about the status of the concept, considered as the best alternative to
protect homebuyers in the state.
