50% discount for electrical wiring upgrade

KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) will be giving more than 50% discount on connection charges for consumers to upgrade from “single phase” to “three-phase” electrical wiring.

TNB announced in a statement that the discount, in conjunction with the country’s 50th Merdeka anniversary celebrations, was effective from now until May 31 next year.

During the promotional period, there will be no charges for overhead cable services, where the rates were RM300.

For underground cable services, the charges are RM400 for 60A and RM900 for 100A compared to the normal rates of RM1,250 and RM2,250 respectively.

TNB also said that those with monthly electricity bills of over RM300 or those who planned to install more electrical items in their homes such as water heaters and air conditioners, are advised to upgrade the electrical supply to three-phase wiring.

The discounts are only available to household and commercial premises.
