KUANTAN: A total of 25 People’s Housing Programme projects with 3,603 units
and 832 low-cost flats have been developed in Pahang.
Deputy Mentri Besar Datuk Tan Aminuddin Ishak said the state had borne some
of the costs of building the units, especially those located in town centres,
provided infrastructure and upgraded low-cost house specifications to make
the houses more comfortable without having to increase the price.
Tan Aminuddin said this in his speech at the handing over of the Royal
Malaysian Navy (RMN) housing complex, Taman Samudera, by government-linked
company Pasdec Holdings Berhad at Balok Perdana, Bandar Baru Gebeng, here
recently.
Among those present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak,
who is also Defence Minister, and RMN chief Laksamana Datuk Seri Ramlan
Mohamed Ali.
On the project, Tan Aminuddin said Pasdec, a subsidiary of Pahang SEDC, the
state’s investment arm, had completed 365 units of various types of houses.
He credited this to the close cooperation between the company, contractor
Syarikat Pembinaan SPPH Sdn Bhd and the state.
“This synergy has helped provide residential areas to civil servants and
military staff,” he said.
On the development of Bandar Baru Gebeng, the latest growth centre in
Kuantan, Tan Aminuddin said there would be 1,200 houses built in the area.
It was in its fourth phase and more than 565 houses were occupied, he added.
“The completion of Taman Samudera will boost the population and spur growth
in the township,” Tan Aminuddin said.
He commended Kuantan Municipal Council (MPK) for its efficiency in
delivering the Certificate of Fitness within four days.
The Deputy Mentri Besar, however, hoped the efficiency shown was not merely
due to the fact that the housing complex belonged to the navy.
“I want to see the same kind of efficiency given to the public,” he added.
“I hope MPK can deliver the CF to others in four days and not four months,”
he said. |
