KUALA LUMPUR: The Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) will
replace the Certificate of Fitness for Occupation (CFO) in April.
It will enable housing industry professionals such as engineers and
architects to issue the certificate for newly completed buildings.
Currently, the CFO is issued by local authorities, which has resulted in
delays due to red tape.
Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting said the
ministry was gazetting the amendments to provisions within the Streets,
Drainage and Buildings Bylaws Bill 2006 to make this possible.
"We are working against time and we wanted to implement the CCC as soon as
possible. April is the month for us to get things moving," said Ong after
launching the MCA’s caring society campaign in conjunction with the Chinese
New Year.
About 1,170 poor families and children from the Klang Valley were given
hampers and ang pow by Ong, who is also MCA president. They were also
treated to a ride on the Eye on Malaysia.
Ong said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi would officiate a
briefing in April on the CCC for local authority representatives and key
officers.
